Successful bar manufacturing training in Bogotá

We feel very grateful to our partners World Vision Colombia and Alcagüete, who have been bringing their incredible support to implement the Microfactories Project in three cities of Colombia, and who hosted Eric Kimmel between the 11th and 15th of September in Bogotá. Eric is the co-founder of Motherfood International and co-founder and co-owner of Noble Foods, a leader bar manufacturer in North America.

Snack bar production in Ciudad Bolívar, Bogotá.

My trip to Bogotá has left me extremely touched and honored to be part of Motherfood International. The women I got to train were so appreciative, thankful, and enthusiastic to learn how to make fortified foods, become entrepreneurs, and improve their family’s and community’s welfare, that I felt privileged to be a part of it as well”.

During his visit, Eric and our partners explored the local market offer, learned about Alcagüete’s large-scale bar production, and trained the women participants in the locality Ciudad Bolívar in Bogotá on how to manufacture fortified snack bars. The Specialist in Nutrition leading the projects in Cali and Bucaramanga, cities where the project is also being implemented, traveled to Bogotá to learn about the manufacturing process and replicate it with the women in their communities.

I was so impressed with the staff at World Vision. They are young and energetic and were extremely committed to Motherfood. It was wonderful to experience Bogotá, its people, food, and culture. I look forward to returning so that I can spend more time following up with the women from Bogotá, Cali, and Bucaramanga. - Eric.
