The Microfactory Project has been launched in 3 cities in Colombia
Launched in May 2022, the Microfactory Project in Colombia is rapidly bearing encouraging fruits. Here we share some of them:
The project began with an analysis of the context where the women participants live. Our partner, World Vision Colombia identified and selected 60 women that will be benefiting from food safety, financial, and teamwork training.
World Vision also identified manufacturing spaces in three regions of Colombia: El Mochuelo in Bogotá city, Comuna 21 in the city of Cali, and Comunas 10 and 11 in Bucaramanga city. These were selected as spaces that best suited the sanitary requirements indicated in the Colombian decree for food manufacturing facilities. As part of the project, these spaces will be adapted and equipped with all the necessary to manufacture fortified snacks.
On our side, Motherfood International has been providing guidance in the above and completed a brief but comprehensive training with the leaders of each region. Under a “train the trainers” virtual modality, we covered the core topics of the project: Social Entrepreneurship, Food Safety, Bar Manufacturing, and Strategy for Women’s Nutrition Product Quality.
We are thrilled to continue sharing the advances of this partnership and convinced that the education and skills developed by this project will bring the women many opportunities for them, their families, and their communities.
